Rental Car Insurance in Michigan

November 17th 2010 -

When I have to travel to another city, I usually take advantage of public transportation, however recently I discover that there was none going to my destination. I found myself in front of the rental car counter trying to make a decision rather I need to buy rental car insurance or not.

In Michigan rental car insurance coverage is included in your auto insurance policy depending on the terms and conditions listed. More specifically most car insurance policies state that short-term use of a passenger vehicle is covered.

You have to be careful due to the fact that your policy is probably covering the damages you caused to the other car or property; this is know as liability insurance. Your policy may not cover the damage to the rental car; therefore you could be stuck with a big expense.

A lot of credit cards have automatic coverage for rental cars if the credit card is used for the rental. Again, you must be sure and probe all of the details as to who is covering what. When you are driving in unknown territory, you are vulnerable to auto accidents.
