If you choose to claim your money back yourself rather than using the professional services of a ppi claims company then you really must take care to make sure that you are not fobbed off by the lender. Some companies will try all sorts of tricks to get you to give up on the claim. Currently a lot of the banks have put claims on hold and perhaps this will lead some to not bother about making these claims. But quite honestly, you really should not be deterred because it’s only a matter of being patient in this game.
Another thing to look out for is goodwill gestures. Some companies will come back to you with an offer of compensation. Don’t accept it without knowing what you are entitled to otherwise you could end up severely short changed. Imagine accepting an offer only to later discover that it was only half the amount that you were actually entitled to? It is important to know your rights and how much you are due. As soon people are unaware of this they prefer to put the matter in the hands of professionals instead.
