100th birthday celebrations for Evelyn Fleming

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has paid a visit to Bushmills to help one of the village’s oldest residents celebrate her 100th birthday.

Evelyn Fleming reached her centenary on October 10th 2022 and Councilor Ivor Wallace was delighted to present her with a bespoke Platinum Jubilee glass paperweight to mark the occasion.

Extending his best wishes, the Mayor, Councilor Ivor Wallace, said:

“Being invited to share milestones like this is one of the privileges of my role, and I’m very pleased to have met with Evelyn to wish her a very happy birthday on behalf of everyone in the Borough.

“She is very well-known in Bushmills, and I greatly enjoyed my visit. Her family, friends and neighbors helped to make this a very memorable birthday for her, by sending cards and calling in to see her.

“Eventually Evelyn enjoyed her special day, and that she continues to enjoy good health and happiness.”

Throughout 2022, Council’s civic gift initiative will recognize those celebrating their 100th birthday or their 70th wedding anniversary while all new-born babies will receive a special certificate.

If you know someone who will reach their 100th birthday or 70th wedding anniversary this year, please email [email protected]

Parents or carers do not need to contact Council directly to receive a certificate for their baby. This will be offered during the birth registration process.

The initiative forms part of Council’s wide ranging program of events set up to mark Elizabeth II’s historic 70-year-reign.
