There isn’t much cooler than possessing the ability to wield magic as a wizard or witch. Learning the powers to manipulate matter and conjure spells is the basis for study at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Harry Potter. Over the years, many gifted students graced the halls of the enchanted educational institution.
By these standards, all the students from Hogwarts possess some level of coolness. The ability to wield magic is one thing. But standing up for the less fortunate, advocating for the safety of Muggles, and living a life of honor are far cooler than any power from a textbook.
10/10 Luna Lovegood Is Bright & Brutal
Luna Lovegood wasn’t the typical student by wizard, witch, or Muggle standards. The Harry Potter books say she “gave off an aura of distinct dottiness“and”stuck her wand behind her left ear for safekeeping“while she”wore a necklace of Butterbeer caps.“And Luna’s powers were incomparable.
As a master of the Defense Against the Dark Arts, she survived the Battle of Mysteries, the Battle of the Astronomy Tower, and the Battle of Hogwarts. Luna is utterly devoted to magical creatures and possesses exceptional academic abilities.
9/10 Neville Longbottom Rose To Greatness
Popularity and social status do not define how cool someone is. It’s a factor afforded to students who treat others with mutual respect and are comfortable in their skin. Neville Longbottom was a respectful lad, but he had trouble with the latter since his first year at Hogwarts.
Neville was very timid and became the subject of laughter from his classmates on many occasions. Neville even single-handedly destroys the final Horcrux, Nagini. Neville certainly grew up over the course of the series, as did his confidence.
8/10 Harry Potter Accepted His Fate
When it comes down to it, Harry Potter isn’t even all that cool. He lived a tragic life, raised under the staircase of his aunt and uncle. He was then thrust into a life of magic and privilege, living off the inheritance left by his wealthy mom and dad.
Harry was born with talent and recognition and used his strong powers primarily to help others. He didn’t ask for the responsibility of having a fate tied to the Dark Lord, but he exceeded everyone’s expectations and did what he had to do to save the people he loved.

Harry Potter sadly never knew his mother and was raised by his aunt and uncle since he was a baby. Lily Potter was a Muggle-born witch who discovered her powers as a child. Her neighbor, Severus Snape, informed her of the existence of magic, and she enrolled in Hogwarts.
Lily was a talented, popular, and responsible student with sound morals who called out her future husband, James Potter, and Sirius Black for picking on Severus. Lily even sacrificed herself for her son in the act of selfless, unconditional love.
6/10 Ron Weasley Is A Keeper
Perhaps no student in Hogwarts history grew more than Harry’s best friend, Ron Weasley. He was always a friendly child and befriended Harry early in their first year. He demonstrated bravery, from rescuing Ginny from the Chamber of Secrets to saving Sirius from the Dementors of Azkaban.
Being the youngest of six sons must not have been easy, but it made Ron bolder, and the connection with his family could not have been stronger. Ron was also a Gryffindor Prefect and a Keeper on the Gryffindor Quidditch team.

Treated as an outcast, the Muggle-born Hermione Granger carries unmatched intelligence, friendship, and gifted talents in nearly every subject at Hogwarts. Due to her brilliance, Hermione was almost sorted into Ravenclaw before the Sorting Hat sent her to House Gryffindor.
Hermione’s uncanny ability to use time travel at opportune times to further her studies and advocacy for house elves put her at a higher level than the other Hogwarts students. Hermione demonstrates her brains, loyalty, and courage countless times throughout Harry Potter. Later in life, she even becomes Minister for Magic.
4/10 Fred & George Open Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes
To acquire something cool or fun at Hogwarts, everyone knows the only place to go is Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes. Fred and George Weasley were successful entrepreneurs and hilarious pranksters who surprisingly looked out for their less-cool younger brother, Ron. Weasleys stuck together to the end.
Fred and George stole the Marauder’s Map during their first year. From then, they had their sights on every inch of the Hogwarts grounds and the locations of every person walking its halls. The map allowed Harry to discover the presence of Peter Pettigrew.
3/10 Rubeus Hagrid Is The Gentle Giant
Not only is Rubeus Hagrid the kindest and most welcoming former student, but he embodies everything cool about Hogwarts. Hagrid is the half-giant Gamekeeper of the school. He was promoted to Care of Magical Creatures professor and later became a member of the Order of the Phoenix.
When Hagrid was a student at Hogwarts, the Sorting Hat selected him for House Gryffindor. He was a classmate of the infamous Tom Riddle, who later became Lord Voldemort. Although he never graduated, Hagrid remains a pillar of Hogwarts.
2/10 Severus Snape Led A Double Life & Sacrificed Himself
Severus Snape was the most misunderstood student and professor at Hogwarts. After the Sorting Hat placed him in House Slytherin, Harry’s father, James, and Sirius Black subjected Severus to bullying. The attacks led to a passion for the Dark Arts and a desire for revenge against his bullies.
Severus was a member of the Order of the Phoenix and a Death Eater. The double life led to constant internal and external conflict. He is able to deceive Voldemort and ultimately sacrifices himself to save Harry.

Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, OM (First Class), Grand Sorc., D. Wiz., XJ (sorc.), S. of Mag. Q. Should be the coolest student from Hogwarts for his name and titles alone. Dumbledore rose through the Hogwarts ranks from student and Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor to Transfiguration Professor and Headmaster.
Dumbledore is arguably the greatest wizard of all time. He appears to have a strategic, fool-proof plan at all times. But his cryptic lessons to Harry, Hermione, and Ron, surprise spells, and his advocacy for all of his students and Muggles make him the coolest Hogwarts wizard in history.
